Tous les ans, le week-end de l'Ascension le Centre d'Etude des Châteaux-Forts organise un congrès sur cinq jours. Le Congrès a pour propos d’étudier un aspect particulier de la construction et des formes de châteaux d’un département français ou d’une autre région d’Europe. Il se déroule uniquement par des visites de monuments et non en salle, à partir d’un Rapport sur un thème. Le compte-rendu de chaque congrès est publié par la revue Châteaux Forts d'Europe.
